    Hey guys, we are getting very close!  Here is the latest version… there are just a few things that I need to finish up, like the new artwork on the How It Works form, and I also need to finish the Windows Firewall feature.  It is all ready to go, but I don’t want to actually automatically add rules until we are sure all of the bugs are fixed, because believe me, as many changes as there were in this version, there are most likely be a few small bugs.

    There are way too many changes under the hood and with the WLC implementation for me to describe, that it is probably best for you guys to just try it and see.  A few small things though, I removed the Advanced Snapshot feature for a lot of reasons.  First, we really need to get back to our roots and focus on VS’s proprietary tiny, customized whitelist… that really is what VS is all about.  The whole goal is to offer the smallest attack surface in the industry.  Also, there is no reason to analyze thousands of files with WLC.

    Also, brand new whitelists will be automatically generated and scanned with WLC.  Again, the whole goal is to keep the whitelist as small as possible.  Then again, with WLC and the other features we have implemented the last year or so, unwanted blocks should be pretty much non-existent.

    I hope to catch up on the posts here soon… it is great to see you “old guys” 😉.

    And yes, I would uninstall the standalone version of WLC now 😉.

    Thank you guys, have a great weekend!

    BTW, I accidentally deleted the VoodooShield 5.0 topic… I can restore it if we need it, but I doubt we do.

    @Dan Running the latest beta atm so far all is ok. I installed VS with WLC and it said all ok. I reset the whitelist and let VS and WLC check all again>WLC icon turn red and says it found unsafe files. I get to the wlc tab and wlc changes verdict to all safe and white icon again.

    On the first initial scan of WLC it showed files and the safe status in the wlc tab.
    Now after the whitelist reset the WLC tab is empty>no files shown.
    After exiting VS and and going back to the WLC tab files are now shown again 😀

    I have updated to this beta  version. Prior to doing this, I had uninstalled the standalone version of  WLC.

    However, when booting up, VS is starting in disabled mode. And, also when clicking on a particular file for details in WLC, I keep getting  this error:

    See the end of this message for details on invoking
    just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
    application or computer (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging=”true” />
    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

    Anybody by chance uses sandboxie 5.31.4 ? For me it feels like the startuptime for sandboxed Firefox 70.0.1 is increased with the latest VS beta.
    WTB higher timer for editing my posts 😀

    Can’t edit again. It’s nice that you can click the WLC File Path and get right to the file. On resolution 1920 *1080 and 125% text size settings you can’t see the the end of larger pathes. // Just random feedback 😀

    @Dan Did some tests.
    When I open my bookmarks folder with 8 bookmarks with WLC enabled> 3-4 seconds nothing happens >  8 webpages open.
    When I open my bookmarks folder with 8 bookmarks with WLC disabled> 0,5 seconds nothing happens >  8 webpages open.
    Only difference was WLC enabled/disabled. For me WLC increases FF start time and opening 8 bookmarks times for sure.

    Talking about the “Open all in tabs” option in FF.

    I just installed the latest Beta. The introductory pages during installation are very nice. It’s been analyzing files forever, some of them Windows processes. Using lots of CPU and disk. What’s up with this?

    I realize change can be difficult but I’ve never experienced this with VS. It appears you have integrated WLC completely into VS which changes it into a completely different animal.

    I’ve had some issues with this, also I have some confusion…

    Installing both, it said unsafe file and was red. Clicked it, it said everything was fine.

    Also I am becoming very confused as to what VS and WLC are now, and how they interact. If I am confused, I think others may be as well. I guess I would put it like this;

    1) Is a separate icon necessary?

    2) Is WLC necessary if I have a third party firewall installed? If so why? If not, should that be stated somewhere?

    3) How does WLC activated in VS change how VS operates? What are the pros and cons of having it activated or not?

    To me, I thought WLC was going to be integrated entirely into VS so it was rather seamless, and basically replaced the VirusTotal aspect of VS to be more reliable and less false positive prone. Not integrated as another, potentially confusing layer of the product.

    Others can weigh in, but honestly I think WLC should just be fully integrated. No new icon. Then the firewall rule aspect could be enabled/disabled depending on if a third party FW is installed. WLC at that point would function like a VT authentication of good/bad files?

    Maybe someone can help alleviate my confusion.

    I have disabled the icon for WLC, not needed when integrated in VS?

    How long do the scans of WC take?

    I have 2 update files from Ziggo Safe Online (F-Secure Safe) that are still on analyzing:

    Maybe this integration of WLC can be done but this version is way different than the previous one. I share @SudoJudo’s concern about this. I’m about ready to uninstall. ??? :-((
